A little about me, since I’m sure you want to know something about who might be treating you.
I always had an interest in medicine and healing, but my earlier life took me in a different direction. I got my master’s degree in English literature, received training in teaching English as a foreign language, and got a job overseas which allowed me to travel the world for 9 years. My travels were a mind-expanding experience. During my sojourn in India, I was exposed to various types of alternative medicine and developed a strong interest in natural methods of healing.
At the age of 35 years, I enrolled in acupuncture school. I studied in three different schools—at Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, New Mexico; at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California; and at Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Han Zhou, China.
In 1991 I opened a clinic in Sacramento, and over the course of 23 years, I have treated 1000s of patients and have given over 72,000 treatments.
I have treated almost every condition imaginable, and continue to do so, but a high percentage of my patients came in for pain management, so in addition to traditional techniques, I am conversant in modern ones involving trigger point therapy for myofascial pain.
If you have any more questions about my background and training, please call. If you visit my patient testimonials, you will get a clear picture of the various conditions I have treated.
I try to develop a strong healing rapport with my patients, one that facilitates the healing experience. In my endeavor to give the most effective acupuncture treatments possible, I have developed an eclectic style—I use diagnostic and treatment techniques from Japanese and Chinese traditions, as well as employing modern techniques of myofascial release and trigger point therapy.
