Diplomate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Licensed Acupuncturist
A little about me, since I’m sure you want to know something about who might be treating you.
I always had an interest in medicine and healing, but my earlier life took me in a different direction. I got my master’s degree in English literature, received training in teaching English as a foreign language, and got a job overseas which allowed me to travel the world for 9 years. My travels were a mind-expanding experience. During my many trips to India, I was exposed to various types of alternative medicine and developed a strong interest in natural methods of healing.
In 1985, I enrolled in acupuncture school. Over the course of 4 years, I studied in three different schools—at Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, New Mexico; at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California; and at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in Han Zhou, China.
In 1991 I opened a clinic in Sacramento, but my clinical experience started in 1987 when I was an intern. With more than 30 years of experience, I have given over 86,000 acupuncture treatments.
I have treated almost every condition imaginable, and continue to do so. I try to develop a strong healing rapport with my patients, one that facilitates the healing experience. In my endeavor to give the most effective acupuncture treatments possible, I have developed an eclectic style—I use diagnostic and treatment techniques from Japanese and Chinese traditions, as well as employing modern techniques of myofascial release, trigger point therapy and strategies from the emerging field of acupuncture sports medicine.
