How does Acupuncture Work?
Western science knows that acupuncture triggers the production of endorphins, the body's natural pain killers. Acupuncture also positively affects the endocrine and nervous systems, helping the body to achieve a state of balance or homeostasis. In Western medicine, however, the body is understood to function in terms of biochemical interactions, and the treatment is generally biochemical, using drugs. It is therefore difficult to understand acupuncture using concepts derived from Western allopathic medicine.
